Exploring Biomedicine

Exploring Biomedicine (BIOM10002) is a core first-year subject. Taken in the second semester, it is split into two parts. The first extends upon Biomolecules and Cells developing your knowledge and understanding of evolution, the principals of life and organism behaviour. The second explores different diseases in depth with a focus on organ systems and bodily function.

Tips and Advice from Past Students

"Exploring Biomedicine begins with a deeper dive into basic biological concepts. If you have completed Biomolecules and Cells, this content is relatively easy to grasp and is mostly related to prior learning.

The content in the second half of this subject increases in volume and detail as you begin to look at a 'showcase' of biomedical diseases. However, despite taking a bit longer to learn I found this area to be more interesting.

I would highly recommend attending all the workshops having watched the lectures for that week so you can engage in the practice questions covered. These are fairly similar to exam-style questions.  Also, use the time at the end of the workshops to utilise the tutors. They are often delighted to look at your assessment tasks and answer any questions you have."
